Marriage Announced Dr. and Mrs. W. V. Costner of Lincolnton announce the marriage of their daughter, Margaret Eliza beth, to Ensign H. A. (Jimmy) Hodge III, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Hodge, Jr., of Zebulon. The marriage was performed June 16 by the Rev. W. K. Quick. The bride is attending the University of North Carolina School of Phar macy at Chapel Hill and is a mem ber of the Alpha Delto Pi Sorority. Jimmy graduated from the Uni versity in June where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Frater nity. He left June 25 for two years’ active duty with the Navy. Wakefield News Mrs. Vera B. Rhodes Rev. Horace Hamm preached revival services last week at ,he Pearce Baptist Church. Rev. C. C. Wheeler preached tor us last Sunday ann. A friend of his recorded the message. The WMU met Monday night at the home of Mrs. Annie Baker. Thursday at six p.m. the Inter mediate GA’s met at the church to go bowling. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. King from Orlando, Fla., recently visited her brother, W. R. Sherron, and other relatives. Mrs. Lena Rogers of High Point spent a couple of days with her uncle, W. R. Sherron. The W. R. Sherrons attended the Sherron family reunion last Sun day at Olive Branch Church, Dur ham. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Hood of Greensboro announce the birth of a son, John Robert, in the hospital there. Mrs. Hood is the former Fay Carroll. Mrs. Bertha Hood spent the week there. Mrs. Helen Jones’ daughter, Frances, called from Asheville and said her husband was in a hos pital with a heart attack. Mrs. W. H. Winstead went home from Wendell-Zebulon Hospital Friday after 29 days there. C. B. Eddins had a birthday while he was a patient at Wen de!l-Zebulon Hospital. I took h>m flowers and cards, Mrs. Norma j Bailey baked him a birthday cake j and all the nurses sang “Happy j Birthday” to him. The cake was I served to all the patients in the ■ hospital. Vassar Eddins of Georgia was | here for the weekend to visit his father. Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Eddins of Florida was here the first of the week. Mrs. Nora Wilder of Knightdale visited her sister, Mrs. Lorr.a Feirell, over the weekend. Mrs. Ola Ferrell has returned frbm a visit to her daughter, Mrs. Ellen Green of Salisbury. Mrs. Mary Harris of New Bern returned home Friday after spending some time with her sister and family, Mrs. Jim Ingram. Mrs. Mamie Kimball has re turned home after an extended visit with her son and his family, Robert Lee, in Fort Worth, Tex. Her daughter-in-law who under went an operation is up and doing well. Mrs. Lena Phillips is very sick at her daughter’s, Mrs. Jack Creech. Mrs. Pink Williams’ two daugh ters and their families from Cali fornia and Florida are visiting her. Mr. and Mrs. Bernice Hicks have moved in the house on Mrs. Vera Rhodes farm. Mrs. Vera Rhodes visited Mrs. Mozell Massey Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Hendricks and son, Johnny, and Mrs. Alpha Mae Alford left early Sunday for a tour of the country to the West Coast and California. Mrs. Jimmy Hodge visited her | parents at Lincolnton the first part of the week. The Philathea Class met with Mrs. Martha Eddins last Tuesday night with 18 members and one visitor present. Mrs. Annie P. Jones gave a very : impressive program and awarded prizes to the lucky ones. Bingo was | played and contests held. Hostess served delicious refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Whitaker and Dimock and Mrs. Mamie Gay passed through last weekend and made a few pop calls to relatives. Mr. Whitaker has retired from a government hospital after 32 years They are moving from New Jersey to Morganton, his wife’s former home. COURT NEWS (Continued from Page 1) James E. Our baptismal service was con ducted Sunday afternoon at the Corinth Baptist Church. There: were 11 candidates baptized. The Lloyd Tippett family is spending some time in New York visiting his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Becker. Mr. and Mrs. William Driver and , daughter, Pat, spent Friday night j with their son and daughter-in- j law, the Jimmy Drivers, of Ra-1 leigh. Mr. and Mrs. S. Q. Edwards and j children of near Wendell spent Sunday afternoon with the Wil liam Drivers and Mrs. Lucy Dri ver. Miss Peggy Lee was honored at a bridal shower at the home of her mother. Mrs. Wade Lee, Sat urday night. Mr. and Mrs. William Driver and daughter attended the graduation of their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Carolyn Driver, from Hardbarger Business School of Raleigh. Miss Mozelle Driver and Bill Brantley of Raleijh were Monday night guests of her mother, Mrs. Lucy Driver. Arthur Creech is at home after undergoing surgery at Wendell Zebulon Hospital last week.
